Tip: inseminate at 13 months

If your heifers calve at 24 months in stead of 28 they will give more milk and live longer. This means you have to inseminate the heifer at 13 month. Make sure she's ready for insemination first and measure her. Your checkpoints are:
- age: from 13 months
- Height: from 130 cm
- Weight: from 400 kg

Bert I think the idea is to have them big enough to serve at 13/14 mths so they definitely calve down at 24mths. If you wait to serve at 15mths and they don't hold to 1st or 2nd service then they will be 26/27 mths calved. Cheers Dave

Hi Bert,

Good observation!!

However:
Start at 13 months with all heifers that are 400 kg!
Then you will get on average 23-24 calving age!!
