Calf care in Engeland

Calf care in Engeland

During our workshop, a calf was just born. The farmer shows us how he takes care of things.

- calf and mother stay together in the stress-free calving line for a few hours
- farmer checks the drinker for water
- farmer brings food for the mother immediately
- sometimes the mother also gets warm water
- cow can lick the calf clean
- the calf will be fed colostrum directly

What do you do around calving to keep mother and calf as healthy as possible? Please share your thoughts!

Nice. My question is. Is the feed the same that is given to high producing dairy cows or is a transition special feed?

Thank you!
